Hi, I'm Angie
Here's a little bit about my background:
I have worked in the helping profession for 23 years and for the last 17 years my professional focus has been primarily on helping young adults get through the tough times.
As well as enjoying many years lecturing in Psychology, I have worked in a variety of settings including Lincolnshire Probation Service, Rape Crisis and Women's Aid. Until recently I also managed a private therapeutic practice situated in Oxford Circus, London where I worked with recording artists and songwriters.
My aim in working with young people and adults
Simply, my aim is to help young adults understand that their wide ranging emotions and thought processes are all part of what makes them human, to equip them with skills to manage their inner experiences and adapt behaviour so they may lead a full and rewarding life despite any hardships along the way. Teaching skills that will help their navigate life for years to come is at the heart of my approach to supporting young adults.
My approach
I draw from evidence based practices from Psychology, Coaching and therapeutic approaches that are backed by peer reviewed research including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical and Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC). I don't take a 'one size fits all' approach. Your needs are at the heart of what I do therefore I adapt my approach to ensure you're receiving the most beneficial interventions to help you overcome your difficulties.
